Support Us

Luton Good Counsel grew out of prayer, a Saturday evening rosary offered specifically to know God’s will for pro-life work in Luton, England. This evening of prayer continues to the present time.

From the outset we knew that we were engaged in spiritual warfare and that prayer would be fundamental to the success of our work.

What did we do? – We established a pro-life counselling centre – Luton Good Counsel.

  • It was agreed by the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster and by the Bishop of Northampton, our own diocese, to appoint a Spiritual Director.
  • We established two prayer circles whose members constantly offer prayer for clients as soon as they contact us.
  • We sought prayer support from contemplative orders. Communities are now praying for our work in Colorado, USA, France and Tokyo as well as by many in the UK.
  • Counsellors pray before and after counselling sessions.
  • We pray for protection and guidance at every Management, Finance and Counsellors’ meeting.
  • Days of Eucharistic Adoration take place in the Counselling Centre twice a month
  • In our parish appeals we always ask for prayer support.
  • Masses are offered at the Centre and also before our AGM each year.
  • On two occasions we have arranged a Mass for babies lost through stillbirth, miscarriage and abortion, and their parents
  • We have prayer vigils outside the local hospital six times a year.

The fruits of this prayer have been amazing! We have seen the most difficult situations resolved:-

  • whole families have changed from being set on destroying the unborn child to welcoming him or her with love.
  • a very moving reconciliation between a husband and wife whose unborn child became a promise of a newfound love instead of an instrument of separation.
  • women damaged by abortion have found peace.
  • women have had a change of heart, from seeking abortion to wanting to continue their pregnancy sometimes even before coming to see us.

Not all cases end as well as we would hope, but we are convinced that our work has continued and succeeded only through prayer and despite a number of attacks in various forms.
How can you help?

  • Many, but not all, involved with the prayer circles and Eucharistic Adoration are the older members of the support network. This work of intercession is crucial.
  • Pray for our work in your home. The rosary is a powerful weapon in the fight against the powers of darkness and the culture of death – Our Lady will crush the head of the serpent.
  • Spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament interceding for our work
  • Ask your Parish Priest to say a Mass for our intentions.
  • Join us at one of the prayer events we arrange from time to time – details of these can be found in
